Coastal Carolina University Recognized for Commitment to Veterans

Coastal Carolina University has been recognized for its continued commitment to supporting veterans, service members, and military-connected students through recent honors: Top Veteran School and Top Yellow Ribbon School by U.S. Veterans Magazine, and Bronze Standard recognition through the South Carolina Military Academic Recognition Program.

The national recognition from U.S. Veterans Magazine highlights colleges and universities that demonstrate a commitment to serving the military community through veteran resources, military-inclusive policies, flexible learning opportunities, scholarships, and career-focused academic programs.

The publication conducts annual evaluations of schools, employers, law enforcement agencies, and veteran outreach programs to identify organizations demonstrating strong outreach and accessibility for veterans, military families, spouses, and transitioning service members.

“These recognitions reflect Coastal Carolina University’s ongoing commitment to ensuring that veterans, service members, and military-connected students have the support and resources they need to succeed,” said Randy Burk, director of Military and Veteran Services. “While we are proud of these honors, our greatest measure of success is the experience of our students. We remain focused on creating a campus environment where military-connected students feel welcomed, supported, and empowered to achieve their academic and career goals.”

At the state level, CCU received Bronze Standard recognition from the South Carolina Department of Veterans' Affairs (SCDVA) through its Military Academic Recognition Program. The program recognizes South Carolina colleges and universities that demonstrate sustained support for service members, veterans, Reserve and National Guard members, and military families pursuing academic and professional goals.

The Bronze Standard distinction recognizes CCU's alignment with the program's core pillars of accessible learning, financial and admissions support, and dedicated veteran infrastructure. Additional areas of emphasis include awarding academic credit for military training, career and holistic support, and strategic outreach to military-affiliated students.

CCU Military and Veteran Services supports military members, veterans, and their families at every step of their journey toward academic excellence through programs such as academic advising, career counseling, and financial aid.
