Myrtle Beach Taking Steps to Make Beach More Accessible

Posted

Myrtle Beach is another step closer to making its beaches more accessible. The city received approval from the South Carolina Department of Environmental Services to install an accessible beach mat at 15th Avenue South. New beach wheelchair rental lockers are coming to four public beach accesses:

  • 53rd Avenue North

  • 26th Avenue North

  • Second Avenue North

  • 15th Avenue South

Concrete pads are already installed for the lockers. The lockers are expected to arrive by mid-December. RentFun, which also manages kayak rentals at Thunderbolt Park, will operate the program, with more locations possible in the future.
